    An ohms reading would’ve been able to give you a distance without puncturing perfectly good wires. A locating company would’ve been able to find the faults exact location with the right equipment.

    You can buy a divirter valve that has both lines coming out together instead of opposing, and no handle its a square nut that you use a wrench on...compact is key on the end of the boom. Your going to break some fittings.

    How do you suppose the wire broke

    • @arlingtonguy54
      @arlingtonguy54 Місяць тому

      Not sure but it could have been struck by lightning according to my electrician or the insulation may have been nicked and water got into the conductor causing it to corrode? It happened again after this repair so I laid a new wire in conduit.

    Hi great content. I'm looking to get a Bobcat E10 as well to do finish work here at my property and other trails we have started at a friends place. He has a Kubota U17 so I was thinking the E10 would make a good compliment to that machine and was wondering what you think about that idea. I was also wondering how you like the dozer blade on the E10. I heard the Bobcat's can be quite fussy.

    • @arlingtonguy54
      @arlingtonguy54 2 місяці тому

      I think it depends on your type of soil and terrain. For me the E10 was slightly underpowered. I would consider an E20 or similar size although tracks are wider. Just depends. The machine was without problems. Very dependable and ran well. Also consider something like a Canycom dump cart to compliment the U17. That’s what most trail builders do.

    Was your excavator plumbed for the extra connection or did you have to add it. Did you add a diverter valve & if so which one?

    • @arlingtonguy54
      @arlingtonguy54 2 місяці тому

      I used the hydraulic lines for the thumb. I added a quick connect coupler. I bought a diverter valve but you have to buy one to fit your machine and get the correct pressure rating for your machine. I’d go to a hydraulic shop or ask your dealer. Also you need to switch a valve for continuous flow called hammer mode.

    I think these are supposed to be set on gravel bed, slightly lower than flow, then surrounded by packed gravel.and finished with native soil for min 12" on top. Ends are capped with native soil or even better clay for about 2' each end. This creates what's called a "filter diaphram". Essentially what the aggragate does if water starts to work its way around the pipe, is prevent erosion of the underlying soil which would cause settling or collapse over time. Any erosion soil gets stuck in the aggregate, but allows water to flow without settling. I mean seriously packing the whole thing with good red clay would be really good in my opinion but water had an affinity to find its way along interfaces folks!

    Not sure how this is the first time I am seeing this video as I have searched for similar in the past and have even found your videos! I have been working with an older 418 (same machine). I think its perfect for single track, you definitely have to stop sometimes to cut out roots or stumps as it just doesn't have the weight and power to get bigger stumps, but it cuts about the widest trail I'd want to do. I also tend to do do what I would call partial bench but I do clear the outside down to level, packed dirt before moving the inside dirt. Really feel like I manage to get a solid outside edge as my fill is packing on level dirt so a lot less risk of it pushing out. I also have a Toro dingo 425 with a tilt attachment and a land leveler that does an amazing job of follow up, packing in, etc. I feel like between the two I have very little functional hand work which is great! The 'make it pretty work' still has to be done by hand.
